Butter, Baguettes, and Bloopy

My delicious nutella crepe at 10 am, pre-excursioning!

So I ended the last post by showing you the tiny, tiny room where Pau and I stayed. There was seriously like a foot of room around the bed and that was it! Good thing it was only for 4 nights... For my 5th night, I slept on the couch of Pau's/Bram's friend's friend because of my 6 am flight back to BCN (much easier on my student's budget than any of the Sunday flights :( ). My original plan was to sleep in the airport that last night, but I am soooooo glad I didn't have to do that because waking up at 3 am in a nice apartment still really sucked.

Anyway, what did I do while I was in Paris? Lots and lots of eating! And some sightseeing too since I don't remember anything from the last time I was in Paris when I was...6 years old?

Sights:

Arc de Triomphe - Very grand and majestic!

I definitely did not realize it was going to be so big.

The stairs almost killed me. all 284 of them :(

Louvre - The Louvre was really beautiful. Every ceiling is just amazing with with all the fancy artwork and gold. Rick Steves' audioguide was awesome and saved me from feeling lost. Plus, I hate real life tour guides because I can't skip something if I'm not interested. I can pause and repeat whenever I like! My favorite work was La Jeune Martyre by Paul Dellaroche. See not awesome picture below.

Musee d'Orsay - I liked it - it was smaller than the Louvre so I didn't feel overwhelmed from the sheer amount of stuff and the hordes of tourists. Plus, it reminded me of Grand Central.

Those were the only touristy things I planned for. I went to the Eiffel Tower, but then it started storming and raining all over my parade and I just went home after I stood in line for 5 minutes without an umbrella and decided it wasn't worth it. So sad, too bad. I was also wearing a white dress. Clearly, it was not my day. I also did a ton of food related things - restaurants, specialty shops, and the Rue Cler walk that Rick Steves has in his book. I compiled my list by researching online and using the oh so handy Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris. Super helpful and highly recommended, thanks bettybrian! Food post coming up!
no mo' macarons :(
